Christine O’Neill is a high-volume specialist thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgeon based in Newcastle, NSW Australia. She is current President of ANZ Endocrine Surgeons. Christine has a Masters of Endocrine Surgery in thyroid cancer genetics and will be shortly submitting her PhD thesis examining clinical and patient outcomes in thyroid cancer patients. She is head of general surgery at John Hunter Hospital Newcastle, the chair of the Hunter New England Endocrine Surgery Multidisciplinary team and a founding member of the Hunter Medical Research Institute Surgical and Perioperative Research Program. Christine has more than 50 publications in endocrine surgery with research interests spanning endocrine surgery diagnostics, patient outcomes, systems improvement and implementation science, education and continuing professional development.

Dr Walsh is a senior consultant anaesthetist in the Hunter Region. She completed her medical undergraduate studies at Newcastle University and after working in Sydney and Darwin in the Northern Territory settled with her family in Newcastle to train as an Anaesthetist.
She enjoys all areas of anaesthesia but her special interests include Endocrine, Colo-rectal, ENT and Gynaecology/women’s health. She is passionate about providing high quality, personalised and safe anaesthetic services to the patients she looks after.
As well as working in various private hospitals in the area Dr Walsh also holds an appointment at John Hunter Hospital as a senior staff specialist. There she cares for patients across a broad range of surgical specialities in the elective and emergency setting. Dr Walsh is affiliated with the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. She holds college appointments on the trainee education committee as a deputy Education Officer for NSW, responsible for trainee affairs, education and welfare.
In her down time Dr Walsh enjoys physical activities outdoors, sport and spending time with her husband and four kids.
